these are the pictures taken of the accident, which occured on the night of mother's day in grand teton national park, and involved a mule deer hopping (as mule deer sometimes do) from the roadside sagebrush and into our windshield. my road dog and i survived, miraculously. the road trip ended several days ago, when we arrived home in the passably repaired toyota after spending several rainy, uneventful days in jackson, wy, awaiting its repair.
and yes, the deer did vacate its bowels upon impact - rather unfortunate for nathan at the time of the accident, and for both of us while driving the many hours home. tree-shaped air fresheners helped, but did not completely save.
